Apple and Google have Eliminated three Relationship Programs from their online Shops Following the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) alleged That the Programs allowed Children as young as 12 to Get them.
In a recent correspondence, the FTC cautioned Ukraine-based Wildec, that functions the programs Meet24, FastMeet, and Meet4U, the three relationship programs seemed to be in breach of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the FTC Act.
“The programs are taken out of the app shops till they tackle the alleged offenses summarized by the FTC,” that the commission stated on Monday.
While the 3 programs claimed within their privacy policies to prohibit users under the age of 13, the programs failed to block users that indicated they had been under 13 from utilizing the programs and by being contacted by other users of their programs.
In its overview of these programs, FTC staff discovered users that suggested they were as young as 12.
“Allowing adult consumers to communicate with kids poses a severe health and safety threat. Several individuals have allegedly faced criminal charges for allegedly contacting or trying to contact minors with Wildec’s programs,” said FTC.
The FTC’s COPPA Rule requires employers collecting personal information from children under the age of 13 to post privacy policies and also to notify parents and obtain their verifiable permission before collecting, using, or sharing private information from a kid.
