The Batman Trailer Teases Catwoman and the Riddler

At DC FanDome, Robert Pattinson the new Batman and The Batman writer-director Matt Reeves showcased the first proper look at the upcoming standalone reboot of the Dark Knight. The Batman is put at the next year of Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne placing on the cowl, and consequently, there is a fear and doubt among the citizens of Gotham City on exactly what this vigilante stands for. Reeves reiterated the Batman is a detective story, akin to Chinatown, and that the Caped Crusader’s reboot would provide us roots of Catwoman and Penguin, that is not at the fully-formed versions that comic book fans know them as.

In addition to Pattinson as Bruce Wayne / Batman, The Batman stars Zoë Kravitz since the anti-hero Selina Kyle / Catwoman, Paul Dano as the supervillain Edward Nashton / Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, John Turturro as mob boss Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gotham district attorney Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Gotham mayoral candidate Bella Reál, Andy Serkis as Bruce’s mentor and butler Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the supervillain Oswald Cobblepot / Penguin. There are undisclosed functions for Gil Perez-Abraham, Charlie Carver, and Max Carver.

Behind the scenes, Reeves is working off a script he co-wrote with Mattson Tomlin (Project Power). Reeves is also a producer on The Batman alongside Dylan Clark. Michael Giacchino is writing The Batman soundtrack, while Greig Fraser is the cinematographer. The Batman is a production of DC Films, also 6th and Idaho Productions. Warner Bros.. Pictures is the worldwide distributor.

Production is expected to resume in early September in London after it had been suspended in March on account of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. A quarter of the filming has allegedly been done, according to Reeves. Due to the outbreak, The Batman was also pushed back over three months from its original June 2021 release date.

The Batman is slated to release October 1, 2021 in cinemas worldwide.
