Facebook has partnered with national-level education board Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to Establish a certified curriculum on digital safety and online well-being, as well as augmented reality (AR) for students and teachers in India.
The brand new development from the social media giant is directed to assist young adults and adults from the country develop skills to safely navigate the net and become ready for new tasks. Under the partnership, different modules have been provided for secondary school students. Facebook intends to instruct at least a total of 40,000 students in total through its new movement.
The curriculum on digital safety and online well-being cover aspects such as security, privacy, mental wellness, and Instagram’s Guide for Building Healthy Digital Habits, Facebook stated in a statement. A particular module was designed to help students become accountable digital users as well as identify and report threats and harassment online and report misinformation. The company is intending to cover 10,000 students throughout the instruction, which is delivered by the Centre for Social Research (CSR).
Besides the teaching on digital safety and online well-being, Facebook has attracted AR as a curriculum to teach the fundamentals of AR and enable students to create new immersive experiences through its software Spark AR Studio. The curriculum will run in many stages. At the first stage, the company is intending to train 10,000 teachers, who’ll coach 30,000 pupils in the next phase.

There will be a three-week training which will be run in batches. This will cover fundamentals of AR and ways to make new AR experiences using Spark AR Studio. Additionally, Facebook has provided Bengaluru-based SV.CO Digital Learning Platform since the implementation partner to the AR curriculum.
“Incorporating technology and electronic safety into school curriculum will ensure students aren’t simply gaining knowledge to be successful in the electronic economy but also learning and collaborating in a secure online environment,” explained Manoj Ahuja, Chairperson, CBSE, at the announcement.
